1/8" yellow in practice
Translucent stock diffuses rather than transmits, and thickness controls how much: at 1/8" it still passes a good deal of light, so backlighting stays bright and even.
This is the lightest gauge that still holds itself flat in a frame, which is why it is the default for signage faces and glazing where something else carries the load.
In a laser: CO2 cuts it without trouble. A diode usually will too — pigment is what absorbs the beam — but translucent shades vary, so test an offcut before committing a sheet.
1/8" yellow (colour 2037) runs $6.42 per square foot at this gauge and weighs about 0.78 lb per square foot, so a 24″ × 48″ piece comes to roughly 6.2 lb — worth knowing before you size a panel someone has to lift or ship.
Why 1/8" yellow acrylic?
The thinnest acrylic we stock, and the most economical. At 1/8″ it stays light and easy to handle, which makes it a go-to for signage, glazing, picture-frame glass, and point-of-purchase displays. It has some flex in larger panels, so it's best where it's framed or supported rather than free-standing.
About Yellow acrylic
Yellow 2037 is a translucent yellow, close to 2016 but its own shade. It diffuses backlight into a warm yellow glow and stays vivid unlit — good for signage, light panels, and craft work. Specify 2037 when color-matching.
Made to order. Not every color and thickness is stocked at all times — if yours is temporarily out, we make or source it and ship as soon as it's back in stock. On a deadline? Email us before you order and we'll confirm your expected ship date.
